Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake - Sarah MacLean I really wanted to love this book. It had a great premise, but for some reason the writing style just didn't click with me. I did find the characterization a bit uneven and the pacing a bit off. It was still worth reading, but definitely did not wow me.

The author did do a great job showing the wallflower insecurities of the heroine, but it sometimes felt like it overwhelmed the story. The whole bet-as-obstacle convention is a little too worn for me. It's overused. And wasn't really needed here.

I did enjoy watching these two characters fall in love. I just wish I could have connected a bit better with the writing.
